  1. The artists of that time created their own paintings of the topic they wanted. They were in always in groups and went outside to the park, beach etc. that´s why there are two or three equal paintings. They used oil paintings, but at this time there were tubes with this painting, so it was easier to carry their paintings.
Monet entered to the Swiss Academy to learn to be an artist, he was influenced by Degas, Renoir and Cèzanne. It was very difficult for him to paint with cataracts because colors like red, orange, green and blue were the same color for him. He didn´t use black in his paintings because all his works were very energetic and with life.

"As for the colors I use, what's so interesting about that ? I don't think one could paint better or more brightly with another palette. The most important thing is to know how to use the colors. Their choice is a matter of habit. In short, I use white lead, cadmium yellow, vermilion, madder, cobalt blue, chrome green. Tha t's all."

  3. Must of this kind of painting were landscapes, because the painters used to paint on the outside, but there are also some portraits that were painted at the outside, but others at the inside. You can find two or more paintings by different painters that look likely; this was beacuse sometimes they painted in groups the same landscape or portrait but is easily differed by the technique. To make more easier to carry on with the painting materials, by this time, the oleo tubes started to be the must comfortable way to do it.
One example of this kind of painting is the artist, Monet, who started his carreer as an artist on the Swiss Academy. The greatest that influenced him were Degas, Cezanne and Renoir, as his common use of dark colors, but without using the black color because this is not on the rainbow colors. Suddenly he turned his paintings more lightly.

How did the visual impairment of cataracts affect his last years as a painter?

This is the time at which there was a noticeable change in Monet's style of painting. In contrast to his earlier pictures, many of his later works have fewer details. This is evident when looking at these later pictures close up. Over the course of the years, the shapes become increasingly blurred. He did not perceive colours as intensively as before, which initially made him chose significantly stronger hues of blue and green shades as the weaker shades were filtered out by the yellowy cataracts. Red shades appeared dirty to him, pink insipid and he found it hard to differentiate between similar colours. Monet saw his painting as getting "increasingly darker".

    What were Monet’s principal colors?

At the beginning of his career, Monet used dark colors, From 1860, Monet abandonned dark colors and worked from a palette limited to pure light colors.

Why did Monet not use the color black in his paintings?

Monet always thought that the color black was too dull to be used in paintings.
